McGill Projects Physical Space

Hi everyone,

I would like to announce that 2 years after starting McGill Projects, we now finally have an official physical space!

McGill Projects will now grow into Robotica (Montreal Robotics Hackerspace): https://robotica.sh/, funded by me and a few generous investors

Feeling the lack of community in Montreal, I started McGill Projects in 2022 right after COVID-19. My goal was to gather the most intelligent, passionate, and hard-working people at McGill to learn, build, and share

In 1 year, as a community, we have:

Hosted 6+ workshops from world-class professors, entrepreneurs, and researchers
Hosted 3+ major events (showcases, 100 days of code, ...)
Hosted 5+ mini-events (meetups, brainstorms, ...)
Grown to 500+ members
Built 40+ software and hardware projects
Members have launched 5+ startups that solved important problems, got into YC, successfully exited, and have had significant contribution to the McGill community.

I've made many life-long friends through McGill Projects, built many amazing projects, and have grown as a person. I would gladly say that with the McGill Project community, I felt like home.

This was made possible by all of YOU, thank you. I learned so much from all of you

https://robotica.sh/ will become what McGill Project was when I first started: a place for the most passionate and hard-working people to learn, build, and share and working on big problems.

After starting roughly 3 years ago between a small group of friends, McGill Projects will no longer be maintained. Earlier this year, I moved to Singapore, and will be moving to the US.

I firmly believe that robotics, energy, and government are some of humanity's greatest problems and opportunities. Robotica Hackerspace will become the place for launching robotics projects, robotics research, and robotics startups in Canada.

There will also be great social events hosted by @Icema, who will become the community and property manager.

For anyone interested in joining our future journey, I'll be posting more information soon. In addition, the first open house visit will be next Saturday, stay tuned!
